Super sad story

My kid fell down the stairs, and by the time I found her, her hands were on the bottom stair, head one stair up, and legs were sprawled upward. I flipped my child around and, while cradling her in my arms, heard though screams and sobs, "I did...(sob)... a somersault...(sob)... down the stairs,..(sob)... and it...(sob)... was SUPER SCARY! I hurt...(sob)... my finger...(sob)... SUPER BAD!"

All i could think was, "Since when did super become an adverb?"

You are a horrible mother. And by horrible, I mean hilarious, of course.

I once tried to use my foot to help my five year old go up and down on a seesaw. I miscalculated the amount of pressure needed, and launched her off the darn thing. She scraped her chest up pretty badly, and I felt just horrible, but I kept seeing a picture in my mind of her flying through the air and I couldn't stop laughing. I couldn't even go in the house to help her clean and dress her wound because I was laughing so hard.

Children makes it ever more evident that the English language is in constant motion, changing and growing. What fun. When my daughter fell down the stairs, I rushed to her aid and loved and coddled her and brought her back upstairs. She got upset with me and wanted to go downstairs to play. She didn't care HOW she got there.

If all she hurt was her finger, I'd call that super lucky!

Mmm... I am halfway to my goal of getting the world to start using the term "super duper" more often.

Today "super," tomorrow "duper!" Next week... "funbox!"
