The exam

After the nurse took my vitals and asked me a slew of medical history questions, I was left alone to change in the examination room. It was my first appointment for my first pregnancy, which, as most of you know, is "THE check-up."

Soon, the nurse returned with the doctor, who said, "Well, let's begin the exam. I have a student doctor with me. Is it okay if he comes in to observe?"

"Sure," I said.

As the student doctor walked into the room, a series of flashbacks played in my mind within a matter of seconds...

...college, freshman year.

...young man in one of my classes.

...sat next to me every day.

...regularly walked me to my next class.

...studied with me.

...mentioned he wanted to be an OB/GYN.

Totally happened to me before. It was during my mission check-up (which included a prostate exam).

There I was, sitting in my undies waiting for the doctor. Doctor enters and asks if he can bring an intern. Doctor leave and returns to ask if it's okay that the intern knows me. Doctor returns with intern. Intern and I reminisce about English class.

Isn't it nice when life plays practical jokes on us...

I loved this so much I read it out loud to my husband. He said, "Did she kick him out? I so totally would."

An awkward sacrifice for the greater gynecological good. He better be a dang good doctor.

I would have been mortified. I'm surprised it didn't happen to me too. It seemed like everytime I went to the doctor when I was prego with the twins they wanted the interns to come in too. I had a huge audience when I gave birth. It was rather embarassing.

I'm with Lady Cakes. I always thought it odd that somebody would pursue that profession. But then again, the sole reason I studied Computer Science was because of the money computer programmers make.

On one of my wife's visits, she had her vitals taken by her doctor's daughter. That's when she discovered that the daughter had the same OB. That kind of weirded both of us out.
