My mom was helping the kids pick out some shows to watch on Netflix. When my children and their cousin chose a show, my mom would say something in her native tongue.
"Bao-ling qiu."
She was also showing obvious boredom with the show they chose. So, they chose another one, and again she used the phrase.
"Bao-ling qiu."
Finally, one of the kids asked her, "Grandma, what does that mean?"
And she said in her cute native accent, "It means .... bowl-ing!"

We used to laugh about my dad when he'd read the tv listings. His face always displayed whether the shows were acceptable to him or not, so even though he claimed to be letting us choose, there wasn't a whole lot of choice involved.
Ha! Nice one, Pam! I'm pretty sure my mom didn't actually care which show they watched, she just wanted to make this joke, which is apparently very funny back in her home land. It's like a pun using a common accent error. My mom was thoroughly entertained by her own wittiness :). So was I :)
laugh out loud!
It's funny cause it's true.
Grandma is adorable
